Almost immediately, emails started pouring into my inbox. They came from students, parents, teachers, and librarians. Kids were excited to create artwork for my book! And I was so excited to hear from everyone!
This great response meant I had to hustle. I'd promised to send my manuscript to student artists. Now I had to quickly get it ready for them. I needed to write a note and explain some things about the book. For example, I needed to tell them which characters were humans and which were machines. I also needed to set a deadline, explain how to get artwork to me, and tell them how I hoped to use the pictures.
It was work, but it was also fun - I knew the project was right on track!
