I’m just going to say it: It’s super weird not seeing friends or going places these days! Everyone is handling this differently - I'm still pretty hunkered down - and everyone copes differently, too. My way is writing. A LOT. I’ve realized I always write when life gets rough. Creating new work is my way of surviving.
I’m definitely not the only one who feels this way. I talked to author/illustrator Shaundra Bartlett Lerman recently about her Bartlettberry Briar series. She said working on her books helps her get a break from tough times.
“Instead of allowing myself to sit and mope or get lost in negativity, I have been able to channel my energy into something positive and find purpose,” she said. “I look forward to getting up every day and getting into the studio to bring Bartlettberry Briar to life.”
Got an idea in your head? Now might be a great time to draw it, paint it, or write it. You could make your idea into something real!
