If I had to build a ski resort in real life, there's no way I could do it! But when you write a book, you get to build the environment by imagining and describing it. Research is important, too. Snowcap Mountain is a fictional ski resort, but it has to be realistic and believable, too.
Luckily, I'm a skier! So I've been to many mountains, including Gore, Whiteface, and Jiminy Peak, in New York; Smuggler's Notch and Bolton Valley, in Vermont; and most recently, Steamboat Springs, in Colorado. I used my own experiences as research for the Snowcap Mountain series.
